Description
The building: Located on Panixerstrasse, 1642, an east-facing, baroque building with a wide nave and square choir, both vaulted by barrels. West entrance with granite walls. The open, brick belfry does not sit on the gable, but on the south-east corner of the nave. Remains of a painting on the choir vault and choir arch, 1640, by the same hand as in the chapel of St. Mary Magdalene.Decor: The altar, made of wood, is dominated by a large, semi-circular painting that almost reaches the vault and leaves no room for a more elaborate pediment. It is flanked by fluted columns and crowned by the Capuchin emblem. The picture shows Christ granting the indulgence for the Portiuncula Chapel to St. Francis and is signed. The composition is built in the spirit of the High Baroque in a steeply ascending diagonal.Bell with inscriptions, 1793.
