Church San Bernardino Mesolcina Calanca
Chiesa di San Martino
Description
Originally, the church was built with a single-nave plan and two rectangular choirs, but in 1639 it was completely rebuilt with a quadrangular hall plan and a single choir. In the same years, several side chapels were added and the entire church was rebuilt according to the baroque taste of the time. Noteworthy are the tall bell tower with two floors of belfry, the nave with a painted beamed ceiling from the 17th century, and the painting of Christ the Judge from the 16th century. Within the walls of the church there is also a well-preserved organ, built in 1894 by the company Giuseppe Vedani from Varese.
