Characteristic of the Engadine house is that it combines all the functions of a farmhouse under one roof. This is also the reason for its size. Even the courtyard is integrated into the house as a wide corridor. From the 16th to the 18th century, almost all houses were built in this way. It was not until the 19th century that the economic part was separated from the residential part.
