Folds on Piz Segnas
As a result of enormous pressures, rock layers are bent and huge impressive folds are created, such as those seen on the east side of Piz Segna.
Description
Above the Glarus Thrust, below the summit ridge of Piz Segnas, there is a spectacular sight. In the greenish-grey Verrucano shale, horizontal folds formed. They show how the rocks deep inside the earth were deformed during the formation of the Alps.
