Monument Engadin St. Moritz
Nietzsche Stone on Lake Silvaplana

Description
In the summer of 1879, Friedrich Nietzsche visited the Engadin for the first time and found his summer residence in the picturesque landscape of Sils. From 1881 to 1888 he spent the summer months there, often on the shores of Lake Silvaplana. Here, sitting on a rock, he immersed himself in his thoughts and found inspiration for his philosophical works. It was here that he came up with the idea of "eternal return" - a central concept of his masterpiece "Thus Spoke Zarathustra". The Nietzsche Stone today commemorates this important phase of his work and attracts philosophy enthusiasts from all over the world.
