Oxygen factory, Ilanz

The air separation plant, also known as the “oxygen factory”, is a technical and mechanical gem. Several such plants were once planned, one of which is in Ilanz. The factory is the last remaining plant of this type in Switzerland. Registration recommended.
Description
High-purity oxygen and nitrogen were produced and supplied to the medical troops, primarily for the Disentis military hospital. The purpose of this was to ensure autonomy of supply independent of suppliers. The factory was built between 1967 and 1968. Production began in 1969 and continued until 2005. The factory is the last remaining plant of this type in Switzerland.
