Val Meltger suspension bridge

Hängebrücke Val Meltger
Beauty and horror sometimes go hand in hand.

Description

In Lantsch/Latsch, for example, the beauty unfolds directly in the village with its richly painted house facades. Some of the paintings are by Hans Ardüser, an itinerant painter who traveled through Graubünden around 1600.

In Lantsch/Lenz, on the other hand, the avalanches that plunge downhill from the Lenzerhorn and the neighboring Piz Linard are a constant source of terror. In Val Meltger, a steep ravine above Lantsch/Lenz, avalanches have already swept away a wooden bridge several times. In 2005, a suspension bridge was therefore built, which crosses the Val Meltger at a height of 12 meters. The bridge creates a safe path across the ravine - and enables a beautiful circular hike from Lantsch/Lenz, which can also be undertaken as a snowshoe tour in winter.
