Ilanz Monastery is the motherhouse of the Dominican nuns of Ilanz. Above Ilanz on the left bank of the Rhine in the district of Sank Niklaus (Romanesque S. Clau) stands the modern building of the convent of the Dominican nuns.

The oldest records about the parish church of Sumvitg date back to the ninth and tenth centuries. At that time, the church was dedicated to Saint Columban. Emperor Charlemagne (+814) donated the church to the successor of Bishop Tello, who in turn bequeathed the church to the Disentis Abbey. A new building and three altars were consecrated on June 13, 1633.

The artists' residence is located in the bathhouse of the former Grand Hotel Kurhaus Tarasp, built in 1913. Since 1988, this artists' residence has offered free space for focused creative work and personal retreat.
