The Hinterrhein rises from the Rheinwaldhorn (3402 metres above sea level) and the Rheinquellhorn (3200 metres above sea level) at the far end of the valley. Where you can sometimes see the Paradise Glacier glistening in the sun.

The ruins of Greifenstein Castle are enthroned on a rugged rock above the first helical tunnel of the Rhaetian Railway above Filisur. The castle can be reached on foot from Filisur in around 30 minutes.

After a short ride on the Valata ski lift, you ski back to the Valata valley station on an easy slope. The ski lift is open for night skiers on Thursdays.
