Information panels offer interesting insights into the formation of the Alps in the region
Nowhere else can the formation of the Alps be seen as clearly as in the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona. Here, rock 270 million years old rises into the air. It was formed when the continents of Europe and Africa collided. Go on a discovery tour at over 2,000 m above sea level on the Pizol and immerse yourself in the spectacular mountain landscape. You can choose where you want to start the culinary hike: either at the valley station of the Pizol cable cars in Bad Ragaz or in Wangs. On the tour from Bad Ragaz, you take the cable car and chairlift to Laufböden and start with the starter in the Laufbodenstübli immediately after arrival. If you start the tour in Wangs, you first take the cable car and two chair lifts up to the Pizolhütte. From there you hike to the Laufbödenstübli (approx. 45min) and have a starter. The hike then leads along the Panorama-Höhenweg to the Pizolhütte, where the main course is already waiting for you. On the way you will find information boards about the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona. Enjoy the panoramic view from the St. Gallen Rhine Valley to Lake Constance.

A Swiss Ranger accompanies you on the beaver tour (in German) in Giessenpark in Bad Ragaz. The rager will guide you to the beaver lodge and with a bit of luck you will be able to witness the animals at work.
Observation of beavers in their natural habitat
Exciting information from a Swiss Ranger
The active beavers in the Giessenpark near Bad Ragaz are awake when most people are asleep, which is why the beaver tours begin in the evening. A Swiss Ranger leads the way to where the beavers are at work. Beavers are excellent builders and can build impressive dams out of twigs, sticks and mud to dam up rivers and streams and shape their habitats. With a bit of luck, you can watch the beavers at work or foraging for food.
