Event Viamala
36. Weltfilmtage
Description
daily
The 36th Thusis World Film Festival is just around the corner. As always, it will feature compelling films from around the world. In addition to films from current crisis regions such as Palestine, Ukraine, and Afghanistan, this year’s focus is on stories of flight and migration, as well as coming of age under difficult conditions.
Over the course of six days, the Raetia Cinema will screen 38 films from 32 countries and four continents. Without exception, these are films produced outside the U.S. mainstream that normally rarely make it into Swiss theaters. In addition, there will be five film discussions in which filmmakers explain their works and their context to and with the audience.
The World Film Days also offer a culinary journey around the globe. The KinoBeiz at the “Schäfli” restaurant serves dishes from all over the world. The KinoBistro across from the Raetia Cinema features a bar serving snacks.
In the run-up to the festival, a small traveling cinema will also tour remote regions of Graubünden with a selected film. This year, “World Film Days on the Road” will feature the Lebanese film “A Sad and Beautiful World,” a moving Romeo and Juliet story set in Beirut.
