About 2000 years ago, the Romans forged their way through our Val Surses. But how did they get over the passes? What did they carry with them? And why did the quality of the metals they brought determine victory and defeat?
Together we will go on a quest: Where in Surses have people long ago found, processed, and used metals? What does it take for colorful stones and ore to ultimately become a finished sword – fire, skill, and quite a bit of knowledge.
We will become craftsmen ourselves, casting, stamping, and grinding small workpieces just like in Roman times – a throwing weight, a piece of jewelry, or a coin, which you can of course take home with you.
The workshop is suitable for historically interested metalworkers aged 8 and up (up to 14 years accompanied by an adult).
