Alpenüberquerung Via Valtellina

Away from the better-known Alpine transversals, the Via Valtellina leads along a historic traffic route on which the Veltliner wine was transported from Tirano in Valtellina to Gargellen in the Montafon. Experience the contrasts between well-known holiday resorts and lonely valleys and a spectacular view of the mountains of the Bernina Group.

Highlights:
We cross four passes and walk through three countries and three language regions.
We cross the picturesque Engadine, a high valley at the intersection of cultures.
A special feature of this route is that the entire route is done on foot. However, it is always possible to cover sections by bus or train – e.g. if you have a slight weakness in form or want a day off.
We walk on historic mule tracks – some of the old pavements or wagon tracks are still visible.
The tour can also be booked in stages: Part 1 from Gargellen (A) (entry also possible in Klosters) to Pontresina (4 days); Part 2 from Pontresina to Tirano (I) (5 days) and so hike the route in different years.
