Description
Three women and a house where they meet - and must decide what they want to save: their convictions or their relationships with the people they love. When Tess moves into a beautiful old apartment in the center of Leipzig with her friend Moyra, several dreams come true for her at once. Their relationship finally has a home, and with the support of Moyra's parents, she can even open her own tailor shop: right on the ground floor of the building, where Rolf, her neighbor Heike's husband, had run a beverage shop until it fell victim to competition from delivery services and rising store rents. The older couple has been living on the top floor of the house for over thirty years. Now that they are being evicted from their apartment as well, the young women offer help. But the more Heike and Rolf rant about "the broken system" and "the corrupt elites" and suspect conspiracies everywhere, the more determined Moyra distances herself. Tess, on the other hand, gets caught in serious conflicts of solidarity, and ultimately, everyone is forced to decide what they want to save: their own convictions or their relationships with the people they love. In his new novel, Anselm Oelze tells not only the story of a house and three women. With empathy and realism, he addresses the divisions in society and questions how living together can succeed against all expectations. Reto Bonifazi, art historian and Germanist, conducts an interview with Anselm Oelze beforehand. A community event by Arosa Kultur and the Community and School Library Arosa.
