Event Engadin Samnaun Val Müstair
BEHIND THE SCENE. Combined tour in the central apse and in the cultural property protection room

Description
on Thursday
A look behind the scenes on the restoration scaffolding in the central apse and in the cultural heritage shelter, the bunker with the archaeological collection.
Eye to eye with the dancing Salome: would you like to see the Romanesque wall paintings up close and admire their details, vibrant colors and composition?
From 2025, the most famous mural painting in Müstair, Herod's Banquet with the Dancing Salome, will once again be open to the public on a regular basis. After seven years of restoration, this part of the central apse has been completed and is open to visitors every Tuesday as part of a guided tour on the scaffolding.
The combined tour not only gives visitors an insight into the restoration work, but also takes them underground: the bunker beneath the parking lot houses the cultural property preservation room. More than 25,000 archaeological finds from 40 years of excavations are stored here. The archaeological archive's collection includes marble ornamental stones from the 8th century as well as metal, ceramic, bone and stone objects from prehistory and early history to the present day.
Duration of the tour: 60 minutes.
