Bergkirchli concert with Elena Bürkli

The concert in February is dedicated to the chorale, which remains a fixed part of the worship services to this day. At the center is the strophic song that has shaped church music over centuries. In addition to the variety of song forms from medieval and Reformation traditions, chorales from the 19th and 20th centuries will also be heard. Their catchy and expressive melodies have inspired composers of all eras. Numerous arrangements and variations have emerged, which give familiar chorales new tonal colors and turn them into independent concert works. Featured are, among others, "Every Morning is Fresh and New" in an arrangement by Armin Müller-Arnold, "Help, Lord of My Life" in an arrangement by Eberhard Rink, and "In You is Joy" in an arrangement by Dieter Falk. These compositions combine traditional chorale melodies with modern harmony and contemporary musical language, opening new perspectives on the well-known repertoire. The program is complemented by spiritual works from Klaus Heizmann that draw connections to the present and round off the concert program.
