The art of singing and orchestral music develops very intensively and diversely at the beginning of the 20th century. Thanks to the opportunities to secure study places in Germany or France, where the art of composition is learned according to Western knowledge, the musical works of Bulgarian composers gain influences from musicians such as Claude Debussy, Johannes Brahms, and Robert Schumann. Nevertheless, the language remains closely connected to our folklore. The rhythm, with its unevenness, complexity, energy, and metric changes, presents a great challenge for the performers. The music pieces are written for solo piano and singing with piano accompaniment. "Das Fest" and "Hell und dunkel" by Ljubomir Pipkov, the songs "Morgenlied" by Todor Popov, "Der Wald grünt" by Pantscho Vladigerov, "Ich liebe dich" by Ivan Marinov, and "Abendstunde" by Georgi Zlatev-Tscherkin can be heard. Music that is romantic, passionate, sometimes classical, sometimes modern, but always emotional, inventive, and honest! Elena Bürkli, organ and singing
