When the body of a young woman is found at the foot of a wind turbine near Chur, the photos of the dead go viral even before chief investigator Giulia de Medici arrives at the scene. The very next morning, the German chief inspector Tjalda Hoekstra from East Frisia reports to the Graubünden cantonal police: she has been trying for months to solve a similarly disturbing crime. Giulia leaves the mountains and travels to the North Sea coast. The parallels are too obvious - the serial offender is playing a perfidious game with his victims. When he murders a young man, Giulia realizes that they can only fight evil with a cross-border special commission. But she does not yet suspect the true extent of the horror, nor the danger they are all in!

Philipp Gurt was born in 1968 as the seventh of eight children of a poor mountain farming family in Graubünden and grew up in various children's homes. Gurt wrote short stories as a teenager, followed by his first novel at the age of twenty. He has always had an intimate relationship with nature, which was also to shape his highly atmospheric writing. His connection to the canton of Graubünden, where he still lives today as a freelance writer, can be felt in each of his novels.
