On a warm spring evening in 1953, an angry young lady hurries along a deserted country road towards Chur at dusk. Two days later, the Landjäger find her body in the forest. She was undoubtedly strangled, she wears a red ribbon around her neck. Only a few days later, a young seamstress disappears from a girls' home and is also found murdered – she also wears the gloomy trademark around her neck. The news spreads quickly, and the area is in a state of excitement as Landjäger Caminada and his best friend, recognition functionary Lieutenant Marugg, pick up the trail. When only a short time later a murder in front of a remote alpine hut leads the two on a completely new track, all previous suspicions are suddenly put to the test.

Philipp Gurt was born in 1968 as the seventh of eight children of a poor mountain farming family in Graubünden and grew up in various children's homes. Gurt wrote short stories as a teenager, followed by his first novel at the age of twenty. He has always had an intimate relationship with nature, which was also to shape his highly atmospheric writing. His connection to the canton of Graubünden, where he still lives today as a freelance writer, can be felt in each of his novels.
