Calonda Mars

Originally, Calonda Mars had little to do with spring, because it is a New Year's custom: When the Romans conquered Graubünden, they not only brought their language with them – from which Romansh developed – but also
their Julian calendar. In 153 BC, the Romans moved the beginning of the year to January 1. But this shone a light on the
Graubünden. They continued to celebrate New Year's Day on March 1st and drove away the demons of the
old year or taught those of the new year to fear. And that is still the case today.

The Calonda Mars parade in Savognin starts at 9.00 a.m. at the Barnagn school building and lasts about 2 hours. The
Children's route: Barnagn school building – Sur Tocf – Punt Crap – Car Piz Mitgel – Hospital – Veia Caross – car park entrance to the Grava gym (below the Sala Grava).

Arrival at the village square at about 9.45 a.m., where there are fine pastries and hot punch for everyone. Come by too.
