Event Davos Klosters
CASTLES IN HEAVEN
Description
To mark the 250th anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach’s death in 2000, Maurizio Croci performed the composer’s complete organ works in Bern. Bach’s music is also the focus of the Klosters church concert by this renowned organ professor from Fribourg – ranging from the monumental Toccata in D minor, BWV 538, to choral arrangements from the third part of the “Klavierübung”, framed by the Festive Prelude and the three-part Fugue in E-flat major, BWV 552. In addition to the Goll organ, Croci will play the historic Köberle organ to lend an authentic sound to the compositions of Heinrich Scheidemann (1596–1663). A chest organ will also be featured in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s unique church sonatas, performed alongside two violins (Fiorenza de Donatis, Chiara Fasani Stauffer) in choir area of St Jakob’s Church, Klosters. Here, the venerable church style meets a gallant, light-footed sound – heaven and earth join hands.
