A young soloist, a groundbreaking composer and works that stand for new beginnings, courage and new beginnings: With DEBUT! the Chur Orchestra illuminates the magic of the first time.
The overture to "La clemenza di Tito" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart opens a story about the beginning of a reign: the young Emperor Titus takes office and has to prove himself as a just and responsible ruler for the first time.
The famous aria "Non più andrai, farfallone amoroso" stands for something fundamental in Mozart's operatic oeuvre: the debut of modern music theatre in which characters do not act one-dimensionally, but develop before the audience's eyes.
Christoph Willibald Gluck is the great innovator of opera. An example of the new aesthetic of the honest expression of human feelings is "O del mio dolce ardor", one of the most beautiful lyrical arias of the 18th century.
Lars-Erik Larsson had his breakthrough with the Shakespeare-inspired orchestral suite En Vintersaga and established himself as one of the most important Swedish composers of his generation: here the unmistakable tonal language that was to shape his later work emerges for the first time.
And once again great opera: Vincenzo Bellini, the grand master of bel canto, revolutionized opera singing with his new style. In "Cinta di fiori" long, cantabile melodies and warm timbres dominate.
Alice Mary Smith's Second Symphony in A minor is not only a strong piece of symphonic music, but also an expression of a pronounced artistic self-confidence in the midst of rigid historical conventions: at that time, the great musical forms were reserved exclusively for men. The English composer is the first woman in England to write a symphony. Her work from 1876 impressively shows how naturally and (non-conformist) freely she deals with the great symphonic form: a powerful exclamation mark at the end of "Debut!".

Mattia Ingellis
Mattia Enrico Ingellis was involved in musical and cultural projects from an early age. As a child, he was allowed to work as a dubbing actor in an animated series and in ballet productions. Since the age of 15, he has received classical singing lessons as part of his high school education with a focus on music at the EMS Schiers. In this context, he also appeared as a protagonist in theatre productions. On the occasion of the youth music competition of Stella Vorarlberg and EMS Schiers, he has already been able to gain soloist experience with orchestras. He is currently a member of the Graubünden Youth Choir and the Consonus Vocal Ensemble. He has already worked as a choirmaster as conductor of the Maienfeld men's and church choir. After a pre-study year at the PreCollege of the MKZ Zurich, he will continue his musical training in concert singing at the Mozarteum Salzburg from October 2026.
