With his last novel Durcheinandertal (1989), Friedrich Dürrenmatt created a visionary grotesque. In a remote valley, the most diverse characters get caught up in a web of greed, power games and coincidences until every order comes apart at the seams. Laughter and horror are close together.
This literary explosion of ideas forms the template for an atmospheric text-music montage in which language and sounds interrupt each other, sometimes intrusively, sometimes tenderly courting the ear or occasionally disagreeing.
Together with the narrator Daniel Fueter, the pianist Vera Kappeler and the percussionist Peter Conradin Zumthor, the reading takes us to this imaginary place, where Dürrenmatt once again takes a clairvoyant and biting look at his Switzerland and the world.
