In the lecture "Return of the Griffon Vultures", gamekeeper Kevin Gugelmann will provide information about the biology and behaviour of griffon vultures and discuss their return. They had once disappeared in the Alps, but thanks to targeted conservation projects in France and Spain, as well as natural dynamics, the huge birds with a wingspan of up to 2.70 meters are slowly returning to their ancestral habitats. Learn about the biology of the "health police of the air", their exciting eating habits and the challenges they encounter on their long migrations. The aim is also to counteract the vulture's bad reputation and to sensitize the population to this impressive bird. The speaker will give exclusive insights into the current situation of griffon vultures in the Ferrera region and show the importance of the species for the alpine ecosystem.
Specifically: If the weather is nice and if the griffon vultures are currently in the Ferrera Valley, the lecture will quickly become an excursion! Instead of in the hall, a unique outdoor nature experience awaits you, where you may be able to see the impressive animals circling in the sky yourself.
The excursion will only be carried out in good weather and in the presence of griffon vultures, alternatively a lecture will take place in the Alpenrose inn.

After the lecture (or excursion), you are cordially invited to a cozy aperitif, which offers the opportunity for conversations and in-depth exchange.

Registration required by 5:00 p.m. the day before here
