About the duo Gert Anklam and Volker Jaekel

The two Berlin-based musicians Gert Anklam and Volker Jaekel blend medieval compositions, contemporary jazz, Argentine tangos by Astor Piazzolla, and their own works into an enchanting dialogue across eras and instruments. At times, Volker Jaekel delves into the depths of the soul with the organ's bass lines, while Gert Anklam playfully and boldly balances over them with his baritone saxophone. Sometimes the two converge in hymnal harmony, at other times they diverge on their own paths. They utilize the entire church space with its diverse echoes and reverberation possibilities.
