flimsfestival: Jezik Srca - Sprache des Herzens

This diverse song program was created by the Swiss opera singer Jelena Dojčinović with the desire to sing in her Bosnian-Serbo-Croatian mother tongue. With the Slovenian pianist Urška Strekelj, they are joined by a partner with an equal temperament and feeling for the Balkan melody. Together, the two musicians traverse classical literature of the South Slavic region, from completely unknown art songs to classical arrangements of well-known melodies such as Sevdalinke, Kolo, Waltz and Polkas. The language of the heart is the one that comes most naturally; where the soul resonates from the first second. At the same time, it is the language of reconciliation instead of hostility that emphasizes commonalities and celebrates differences instead of dividing. After all, it is love, longing, youth and transience, grief and joy that touch everyone. Thus, this program has a very individual and at the same time universal meaning and inspires all those who are open to new discoveries.
