Hamlet – Shakespeare aus dem Koffer

**«To be or not to be, that is the question!» **
Hamlet doubts life. He misses his father and tries to track down the causes of his death. Hamlet's mother Gertrud is overwhelmed. She is freshly in love with Claudius, the brother of the deceased king. The fate of the young man who loses his father and has to reclaim his place in society is not a story only from past centuries.

With just two actors, a musician, seven props and a suitcase, the international group NIE Theatre brings Shakespeare's famous play to the stage in a humorous, fast and accessible way. The family drama about revenge, justice and moral dilemmas is reinterpreted. In this imaginative production, the linguistic world of Shakespeare is combined with contemporary language, with an original soundtrack, live music and sound effects. In just 60 minutes, the audience is taken on a roller coaster ride full of tension, humor, grief and love.

**Who is Who**
Founded in 2001, NIE – New International Encounter is a production site for plays aimed at all generations. The projects are characterized by a mixture of physical theater, several languages, live music, socially relevant stories and a European ensemble. NIE Theatre is based in Asker (Norway), Prague (Czech Republic) and Cambridge (UK). The first three pieces that the group developed in the Czech Republic were awarded numerous prizes and performed worldwide. They are still touring today as the "European Narratives Trilogy". Since then, NIE has been creating new plays in co-production with venues and theatre companies from all over Europe. At the Chur Theatre, the NIE Theatre made a guest appearance in 2023 with "The girl with the ugly face", in 2024 with "We come from far, far away" and in 2025 with the "Song of the Lost Treasures".
