Heka – Nichts ist, wie es scheint

At the end of the season, there will be real magic at the Chur Theatre. Heka, the Egyptian goddess of magic, blurs reality and illusion. Poetically and with fine humour, the internationally guest company Gandini Juggling from Great Britain takes the audience into a world of deception: Say what you don't do and do what you don't say. Before the eyes of the audience, objects become visible, disappear and float away. What is real? What is a trick? Where does magic begin? A mixture of fairytale magic and movement theatre.

The internationally renowned jugglers Kati Ylä-Hokkala and Sean Gandini founded the company Gandini Juggling in Great Britain in 1992. Her motivation is artistic research - what is juggling and what can it be? In the process, they create shows that range from radical art juggling and choreographic studies to theater performances. The Gandini Juggling company consists of a virtuoso core group of jugglers who regularly draw inspiration from artists from other disciplines, including composers, ballet choreographers, fashion designers, programmers, sound designers, set designers and mathematicians. Gandini Juggling performs all over the world with her productions and often collaborates with orchestras when she combines classical music performances with juggling. Contemporary composers such as Tom Johnson, Nimrod Borenstein and Gabriel Prokofiev collaborate with Gandini Juggling. In addition to their performances, Kati Ylä-Hokkala and Sean Gandini work at renowned circus schools. There they lead workshops and promote the next generations of circus artists. Her desire is to reposition juggling as a versatile, captivating and changeable art form in today's world and to make it accessible to a wide audience.
