Day 1 - Approach to Bovalhütte & first training blocks
Meeting point at Morteratsch station (1896 m). From here we ascend together towards the Bovalhütte (2494 m). On the way, we use suitable rocky sections for the first technical part: safe walking in blocky terrain, step selection and efficient movement on the rock. We then follow the Morteratsch Glacier. There we get to grips with the glacier and practise using crampons and ice axes (basic technique, balance, safe steps). We reach the Bovalhütte via glaciers and moraines. In the afternoon we round off the day with knot tying.
Ascent: 600 m | walking time: approx. 2.5 hrs.

Day 2 - Glacier practice: roping up, anchoring & crevasse rescue
After breakfast, we descend around 100 m to the glacier - our practice area for the whole day. We will practise clean roping up and walking in a rope team, practise crevasse rescue step by step and set up various anchors in the snow/firn. The aim is for you not only to know the procedures, but also to be able to carry them out properly under supervision.
Ascent/descent: approx. 100 m | training time: full day

Day 3 - Rope handling on the rock & route planning
Today we will continue working on the rock above the hut: correct rope handling, short belaying sequences, ideas for belays/intermediate belays in easy terrain and efficient communication. Afterwards, we plan the next day's practice tour together: route, schedule, key points, equipment and what we pay particular attention to in terms of conditions, weather and orientation.
Ascent/descent: low | training time: full day

Day 4 - Application tour Piz Morteratsch (3751 m) & descent through Val Roseg
We start early with headlamps for the varied practice tour to Piz Morteratsch. A mix of easy rocky sections, firn and glacier awaits us - including challenging orientation and putting the rope team technique we have learned into practice in real terrain. The descent leads via the Tschiervahütte (2583 m) into Val Roseg and on to Pontresina (1800 m). We can optionally shorten the long walk from Roseg to Pontresina by horse-drawn carriage or bike (for an extra charge).
Ascent: 1250 m | Descent: 1750 m | Walking/climbing time: approx. 9 hours.
