Introductory Course in Woodturning

Course
In the basic woodturning course, you will learn the basics of longitudinal and transverse woodturning, the correct use of woodturning tools, the properties of different types of wood and how to combine shapes. In addition to practice pieces, you will create a flower vase with drilled glass and surface treatment of your choice. Using various clamping options, you will produce a bowl with a lid according to your own ideas.

The course takes place at the "luvratori medelin" in Curaglia.

3 days, from Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 9:00 am to Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 5:00 pm.

Target group
Anyone aged 16 and over who enjoys working with solid wood on a woodturning lathe.

Course leader
Patrick Hess is a woodturner, carpenter and structural engineer in architecture. He therefore has a broad knowledge and a lot of experience. He also teaches at the School of Woodcarving (woodturning, white cooperage) in Brienz and offers woodturning courses in the Töss Valley (Steg) and at the Ballenberg course center.

Insurance is the responsibility of the course participants.
Meals and accommodation are not included in the course.
