Jade – an excursion to southern Val Poschiavo

Experience

This guided hike around Selva in southern Val Poschiavo opens up the world of the semi-precious stone nephrite jade. The route leads across a high plateau at around 1,450 m a.s.l., covers about 100 metres of ascent and takes roughly 1 hour 45 minutes.

Focus

The day combines searching for jade in the terrain with a mindful approach to the alpine environment and key aspects of mountain safety. Along the way you gain insights into the geology of this unique region.

Back in the Creative Box at Hotel Maistra 160, stone cutter Francesco Cortesi works with the collected finds to shape them into individual pieces of jewellery.

On the evening before the excursion, an aperitif with an introduction by Michela Paganini is held at the hotel.
