Event Surselva
Little Bridge - Nothilfe in Armenien, Pfingstfest in Ilanz
Description
Armenia is a highland in the southern Caucasus. It is located where Orient and Occident meet, has just
three million inhabitants, half of whom live in the capital Yerevan. Armenia is the oldest
Christian country in the world. The Church is a creator of identity that has carried the Armenian people through its painful history. Since 2020, wars and the expulsion of 120,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh have left the country in mourning and hopelessness. Young people are leaving the country, while the rural population has insufficient access to health care, training opportunities and work. Only agriculture ensures survival. This is where the Pentecost project of the Graubünden Church in cooperation with Little Bridge comes in.
The focus of the last of the three project years, 2028, is on dialogue and exchange. Armenian project managers come to Graubünden on a working visit, we visit farms in Graubünden.
At the Pentecost service in Ilanz, there will be inputs with Armenian culture. At the end of the Pentecost project Little Bridge - Emergency Aid in Armenia, a project trip to Armenia will take place. Details will follow. Information can be obtained from the Migration and Worldwide Church Office.
