Event Arosa Lenzerheide
Reading with Joachim B. Schmidt
Description
The celebrated Grisons writer Joachim B. Schmidt has been living with his family in Iceland since 2007. His books, such as "Tell" and "Kalmann and the Sleeping Mountain," have become bestsellers. We are very pleased that he will come to Arosa in May to read from his latest book "Ósmann" and will share many interesting stories from his life and about his writing in a conversation with Reto Bonifazi! Participation is free (collection); after the reading, we will offer you an aperitif. Of course, you can also buy books and have them signed. The far north of Iceland around the turn of the century. There, Jón Magnússon Ósmann ferries people, animals, and goods across the waters of the Skagafjord with his cable ferry. He is a fisherman and seal hunter, he sees ghosts and elves, he is a friend to mankind who feeds and shelters the needy, and he is a god-fearing drinker and poet. Larger than life, strong, sociable, and yet scarred by his own fate, so that the tides begin to lure him, which he has navigated for over forty years. A vibrant and almost incredible story based on a true life.
