Where we normally travel by car, train or post bus, there is an amazing world of strange rocks, rocks and hills. 30-50 million years ago, huge rock packages were pushed on top of each other. Among them are volcanic rocks up to 270 million years old and somewhat younger marine sediments. Important witnesses are individual geological outcrops along the way. Prasinite, a metamorphic basalt, was once mined here for commercial purposes. "Only" about 10,000 years ago, a rock mass fell from the Kunkel and was partially pushed forward by the subsequent Flims landslide. On the leisurely hike from Domat/Ems to Tamins, biblical periods are put into perspective. But the diversity of the landscape, the great geodiversity and biodiversity are also fascinating.
