DANCE WORKSHOP "Around the tarantella" with Anna Dego

This workshop approaches the tarantella as a bodily and ritual practice, envisioned not only as a traditional dance, but also as a living language capable of transcending the present. Through rhythm, listening and movement, the work explores the link between memory, body and emotion, establishing a dialogue between the ancestral strength of tradition and contemporary sensibility.

This research does not aim to reproduce folkloric or codified forms, but to reveal the transformative essence of the tarantella: a space of connection between opposites – heaven and earth, impulse and resistance, individual and collective – where each participant can rediscover an authentic presence and their own gestural singularity.

Biography:
A collective formed by three artists with varied backgrounds, from performance and artistic research. Their work is born from the desire to intertwine languages and practices, placing movement, dramaturgy, voice and body on an equal footing. They met at workshops led by Anna Dego in Italy and France, focusing on the practice of the tarantella as a physical, ritual and relational experience.

Anna Dego
An actress and dancer trained at the Teatro Stabile di Genova, she has collaborated since the 1990s with figures such as the director Claudio Collovà and the choreographer Adriana Borriello (joining the latter's company in 1997). Since 2002, she has been working regularly with the musical ensemble L'Arpeggiata, performing in international festivals and venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Flagey in Brussels and Salle Gaveau in Paris. At the same time, she leads her own creative projects at the crossroads of theatre and dance, and leads workshops and training courses in Italy and abroad.
Camilla Cason
Dancer and choreographer, she trained at Il Balletto di Castelfranco Veneto and danced with the Ballet de l'Opéra-Théâtre de Metz (France) from 2011 to 2023. Since 2023, she has been pursuing independent research combining performance, choreography and *in situ* practices. Her work—often developed in natural or unconventional settings—explores the relationship between the body, the environment, and contemporary ecological thought.
Elisa Spina
A dancer and performer trained at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Germany, she has been collaborating since 2018 with international companies and artists, including the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Balletto Civile and Isabelle Wenzel. In parallel to her activity as a performer, she conducts personal research that intertwines somatic practices, self-awareness and traditional dances such as flamenco, tango and tarantella.
