Description
They do exist, these special personalities who give a city and its culture an unmistakable face – Chlöisu Friedli (1949–1981) was undoubtedly one of them. In the 1970s, the pianist taught the blues Bernese German and created a single album that still has cult status today. Behind his great joie de vivre and passion for music, however, there were also recurring crises and long hospital stays.
His biography tells of a constant balancing on the abyss – until the day when he boarded the train in a place where there was no station at all, thus ending his life early.
Marco Michel's new solo evening brings Friedli's eventful life to the stage. But the performance is much more than a simple biography: it merges reality and imagination – a game that Friedli knew all too well due to his mental illness. Like Friedli himself, the audience also loses the ground under their feet in between and has to reorient itself. Because reality is less reliable than one thinks – and fantasy is an essential part of its creation.
Following the theatre performance, a panel discussion will offer the opportunity to classify and deepen what has been experienced. An affected mother and professionals exchange ideas with presenter Melanie Salis.
The event is free of charge (collection). Due to the coordination, we ask you to register for the event – thank you very much
