Unsichtbare Wasserwege

We hike on the deposits of the Flims landslide, the largest landslide event in the Alps. Unique waterways have formed in the debris of the landslide. The mysterious lakes hidden in the forest and glittering turquoise offer us insights into this underground water network.

From our meeting point, we walk to Lag Prau Pulté, cross the Flims bypass and continue to Lag Prau Tuleritg and Lag la Cauma. Inputs await at various stops: How can the age of the Flims landslide be determined? How fast does groundwater flow? Why do the water levels of the lakes fluctuate?

Meeting point:
09:30 am Bus stop Flims Waldhaus, Promenada (side of the road towards Laax)

End of the tour:
Approx. 1:00 p.m. at Lac la Cauma (end of the tour, possibility to return to Flims Waldhaus together)

Information about the hike:
- Walking time 1.5 hours, ascent 150 m, descent 250 m, distance 5 km
- Requirement mainly T1, short section T2 (hiking scale SAC)

Equipment:
- Good footwear with treaded soles
- Clothing adapted to the weather
- Snacks/drink from the backpack

Costs and registration:
- CHF 45 per person (CHF 20 discount for members of the UNESCO World Heritage Association Tectonic Arena Sardona)
