This workshop at Hotel Maistra 160 in Pontresina introduces you to the rich East Asian lacquer tradition and in particular to Shippi Urushi – Urushi on leather.

Workshop content

- Lacquering and cutting different leathers into personalised bookmarks
- Experimenting with textures, shapes and motifs
- Decorating with gold and silver leaf, metal powder, mother-of-pearl and coloured Urushi

Participants leave the course with several individually designed bookmarks and impressions of a rarely practised craft.
