Warten auf Beckett

**Two men meet**
But now they have forgotten why they wanted to meet and are waiting. Then the phone rings. One answers, one goes out. When he comes back in, the other one has disappeared. A piano plays as if by itself and a cream cake flies through the air. It lands alternately on the face of one and on the pants of the other, just not where it is supposed to go. And who is actually waiting for whom?

The convincing artistic team of Max Merker, Aaron Hitz and Martin Bieri, known from the guest performance "The Comic Theatre of Signore Goldoni" in the 2024/25 season, are back at the Chur Theatre with this fast-paced and bizarre comedy "Waiting for Beckett".

**Master of Comedy**
Theatre legend has it that Samuel Beckett had two comedians in mind as the ideal cast for his best-known play "Waiting for Godot": Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, also known as "Dick und Doof" in German-speaking countries. After the sudden death of Oliver Hardy, Laurel never made a film again. Inspired by this, Max Merker and Aaron Hitz, best known for their physical and humorous way of acting, revive the tradition of existential clowning with their own means. Together and each for themselves, they trace the tragedy of loneliness in their version "Waiting for Beckett" – and the possibility of overcoming it through the comic. Comedy, just like life, is a matter that cannot be done alone: How are you supposed to throw a cream cake in your face?
