Event San Bernardino Mesolcina Calanca
YOUR HAND ARE THEIR HANDS
Description
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the opening of the art installation *Your Hands Are Their Hands*, which will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, between Roveredo and San Vittore.
This grassroots, nonprofit project was made possible by the dedication of people who have created a collective work of great human and symbolic value. After more than a year of work, thousands of red handprints, collected from around the world, will be installed along the Mesolcina bike path, transforming the route into a place of encounter, remembrance, and solidarity.
The installation creates a symbolic bridge between cultures and regions: each hand represents a gesture of solidarity and a thought for children who are victims of armed conflict. Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to symbolically “adopt” one of the displayed hands to support the Soleterre Foundation in its work addressing pediatric cancer emergencies and the Children’s Center in Beit Jala.
Schedule for Saturday, July 25:
10:00 a.m.: Meet at the site of the former highway in Roveredo and start the walk along the bike path.
Approximately 11:00 a.m.: Arrival at the Santa Croce Chapel and the San Vittore Peace Center.
Followed by:
Welcome reception for participants
Kurdish lunch (minimum donation CHF 10, limited portions)
Refreshment stand featuring La Molesta craft beer and Manimatte organic wines
Official presentation of the project and remarks by Fondazione Soleterre, Collettivo GAT, and CUSP
Fundraiser and musical entertainment
We look forward to walking together along a path built by thousands of hands, united by the message of building bridges, not barriers.
