Description
More than 600 years ago, the five-storey tower house with an adjoining warehouse (Susta) was built as a resting place and goods transshipment point for muleteers and pack animals. The Susta stands prominently in the historic village centre and served the Sustmeister ("Teiler" - administrator of the muleteer genssenschaft) as a residential and commercial building. Around 500 years ago, it was expanded with a hall extension made of wood (knitted construction) on a stone base. In August 1716, the building was destroyed by a village fire, but was rebuilt in 1718. The complete renovation in the years 2009-2010 brought the Susta back to its historic building fabric.
