Zwischen Hinterrhein und Zapporthütte

Traditional hut near the Zapport and Paradise glaciers, at the source of the Hinterrhein.

Description

The Zapporthütte, built in 1872 on the edge of the glacier, lies at 2,276 metres above sea level. The hut is manned from the end of February to mid-May and from the end of June to mid-October. The rest of the time it is open (with cooking facilities). Please note that the path from Hinterrhein to the hut is a very demanding mountain hiking trail (duration approx. 3.5 hours). As the first part of the hike crosses the area of the Swiss Army's tank firing range, it is essential to observe the military firing instructions, tel. +41 58 482 11 11. For further information and reservations, please contact the hut warden Daniela Zwyer. See contact information.
