Description
The hike starts in the village center of Bad Ragaz and then leads along the Tamina promenade to the Rhine. The Rhine also marks the cantonal border between St. Gallen and Graubünden. Once you have passed the Rhine, you are already on Maienfeld soil. Along fields, the trail leads to the small winegrowing village of Fläsch, which was awarded the Wakker Prize in 2010 for its clever use of architectural substance. The route continues along the vineyards to Maienfeld - the original setting of the world-famous Heidi story. In Maienfeld, you will come across the oldest documented vineyard in Europe - Salenegg Castle. Wines were already being pressed here in 1068. After a glass of "Herrschäftler", the route takes you back across the Rhine towards Giessenpark Bad Ragaz. The idyllic park with the enchanting Giessensee lake is the green heart of the spa town. A few more meters and you are back at the fairground in the middle of the village.
