Description
Directions
The starting point is located in the largest municipality of the Prättigau, in the illustrious spa resort Klosters, always somewhat in competition with the fashionable-urban Davos. The route descends to the Landquart; suddenly, a huge eagle made of concrete soars over the valley; the elegant, 70-meter-high cable-stayed bridge by the brilliant bridge engineer Christian Menn was inaugurated in 2005.
Along the Landquart River, the route passes through the elongated Prättigau with its villages in the valley, on terraces, and in side valleys. Once Romansh-speaking, the Prättigau today is a German-speaking valley region, flanked by high mountains like Silvretta and Rätikon, which influence the harsh climate of the valley.
A narrow gorge, the landscape opens up, and busy changes are made at Landquart station. The route finds the Rhine embankment and the healing springs of Bad Ragaz, and finally arrives in Sargans, a hub of all traffic flows.
