27 Zernez – Mals

The start of the cycle route is Zernez in the Lower Engadine, the gateway to the Swiss National Park. From here it goes through the Swiss National Park, on the scenically spectacular Ofen Pass road along the Spöl Gorge and through large mountain pine forests to the highest point Süsom Give (2149 m above sea level). Here it is worthwhile to leave the bike for a day and explore the national park on foot. Deer, chamois and ibex are waiting to be discovered here.

From Tschierv it goes along the unspoilt and natural Rombach through the authentic villages, Fuldera, Valchava and Sta. Maria to Müstair. The culturally rich villages with their houses built in the Engadine style with the rich sgraffitto decorations all invite you to a short stay. With the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the monastery of St. Johann from Carolingian times, Müstair offers the cultural highlight of the tour.

From Müstair it goes over the border into nearby Vinschgau. The route leads through fruit-growing areas and past medieval castles and through old architecturally valuable towns to Mals. Taufers and the medieval town of Mals are the big highlights of this stage.
