Description
The entire Haute Route Graubünden covers four huts and takes five days. You have experience with ski touring and deep snow and can manage steeper sections both uphill and downhill. You master the short turn, and your physical fitness is sufficient for four hours of ascent and up to 1200 meters of altitude difference. Then there is nothing standing in the way of this ski crossing! For the 14 kilometers, 5-7 hours should be planned.
The route starts from the Kesch Hut with a short descent through the Val Funtauna. From Alp Funtauna, you then ascend north to the Scaletta Pass. It continues over the eastern moraine slope and over the glacier up to the ridge. The rocky terrain is avoided by crossing the east side of the ridge, thus reaching the Scalettahorn from the southeast. For the descent, stay south/southeast of the ridge, enjoy wide, regular slopes, and then cross to the northwest at the end of the ridge, from where you can already see the hut.
