Description

After an easy pass ascent with the Rhaetian Railway on the UNESCO World Heritage railway pioneer route to Preda, the snowshoe circular route leads from the station on the old mule track over the ridge Crestas da Palpuogna to Lake Palpuogna. This idyllically located lake was voted the “most beautiful spot in Switzerland” in a survey. In winter it is mostly covered with snow, but when the weather is cold enough and there is little precipitation, the lake freezes to black ice and skating is even possible on it.

The return route first follows the pass road, which is closed in winter, downhill and then runs along the hiking trail through the Lavizun forest to Preda station. There is the Hotel Preda Kulm where you can enjoy a warm drink.
