Description

This short trail run is perfect for anyone who wants to get a taste of trail running for the first time. The Grand Tour of Switzerland photo spot and Lake Wangs are two worthwhile opportunities for a short stop along the way. In addition to the actual focus on training, it is also worth taking enough time to enjoy the fantastic panorama while running. This route can also be planned from Wangs (take the gondola and chairlifts to the Pizolhütte and from there head towards the Höhenweg).

Hidden Gem

Trail running workshops are held on various dates on the Pizol. Accompanied by certified running guides and professional athletes.

Safety Note

The trail offers no technical difficulties, the paths are all wide and well maintained.

Equipment

Normal trail running equipment (trail shoes recommended everywhere). Take enough food and drink with you (self-catering principle). Maps and cell phone with good reception.

Directions

From Bad Ragaz we take the gondola lift to Pardiel and from there we take the chairlift to Laufböden. At the top station of the chairlift, we turn left towards the photo spot / high trail. We follow the well-maintained and wide hiking trail to the highest point of this route. At 2275 meters above sea level, we have a GRANDIOUS 360° view of the surrounding mountains. After enjoying the view, we continue towards Wangsersee. Once there, the trail turns right back towards Laufböden. The chairlift and gondola take you back to Bad Ragaz.

Public Transport

By train to Bad Ragaz, then by bus to the Pizol Bad Ragaz valley station.

Travel Information

Take the highway exit Bad Ragaz, then follow the main road in the direction of Pizol Bad Ragaz.

Parking

Public parking available at the valley station (CHF 5.00 / day).
