Details
Description
The “Biala vesta” route starts with a highlight: right after the parking lot of the Brigels cable cars, you ride along the idyllic Brigelser See. Depending on the weather and season, its water shines in a beautiful turquoise or deep blue. The path continues over alpine meadows towards Waltensburg to the Curtginet valley station. Along the main road, you roll into the Oberdorf Waltensburg, where you then turn right back towards Brigels. Soon, two more highlights of this easy gravel round are reached: the Uaul Pign fireplace and the cave castle Grotta (Kropfenstein-Casti Grotta). A short detour on foot is definitely worth it. Watch for the signpost. With a slight ascent, you continue cycling on the partly rough natural road to the Crest la Crusch viewpoint. At the center of the small platform is the Escherstein. It commemorates the builders and the completion of the connecting road from Waltensburg to Brigels finished in 1870. From here, you can also overlook the entire Surselva, from Ilanz to Disentis.
Hidden Gem
A visit to Kropfenstein-Casti Grotta castle is worthwhile. It is built into overhanging rock walls.
Safety Note
If the weather conditions are uncertain, the route should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar appears during the route, you should turn back in time.
