Bike ride from Andeer into Val Ferrera to Cröt and further through the primeval high valley Avers to Juf, the highest year-round inhabited settlement in Europe
Details
Description
The route starts in the historic spa resort Andeer and leads via Bärenburg to the Roffla Gorge. At the Roffla Gorge guesthouse, the next bend leads onto the Avers road into Val Ferrera, past Ausser- and Innerferrera, and further along the Avers Rhine into the high valley Avers.
The route steadily climbs up to Juf, passing small settlements. Juf, situated within the alpine mountain landscape, is at an elevation of 2,126 m above sea level and is the starting point for numerous hikes.
Along the entire route and in Juf itself, there are several places to stop for refreshment. Once in Juf, simply enjoy the silence in the sparse high valley before the relaxed descent back to Andeer begins.
Juf is the end point of the Avers cantonal road and is accessible by public transport (PostBus line Andeer-Juf).
Each year in August, the traditional mountain bike race for everyone from Andeer to Juf takes place.
