Description

Our route starts with crossing the bridge at the valley station of the Cuolm da Vi cable car – it leads over the Drun stream, which can turn into a wild torrent during heavy rain.

We pedal uphill with regular hairpin bends on a well-developed road.

At the mountain restaurant Cungieri, depending on the time of day, you can refresh yourself with coffee and cake, a soup, or a typical "Marenda" (afternoon snack platter). The terrace with a view or the cozy lounge invite you to linger. In close quarters, you quickly get into conversation with other guests or the host.

The return journey leads via a beautiful singletrail into Val Bugnei and from there on to Sedrun.

Hidden Gem

We look up to Cungieri before the start – if the flag is raised, the Ustria is open!

Those starting at the old valley station Cungieri can check opening hours on a board or at www.cungieri.ch

Directions

From the parking lot of the Cuol da Vi cable car, we first cross the bridge over the Drun stream. On the other side, we follow the road to Cungieri. For the descent, we turn left into Val Bugnei just below Cungieri, at the cross. Up to the alpine huts, we ride on a singletrail, then we can switch back left onto a road. At the train stop in Bugnei, we follow the hiking trail beside and above the railway line until the loop closes again.
